bourton-round-post-upholstered-queen-bed
BH | Studio Bourton Round-Post Upholstered Queen Bed

Before box springs and steel frames, a bed was a wooden frame built around four corner posts, with a board fixed between them at the head and the foot. English country joiners in villages across the Cotswolds made it plain and sturdy, and the settlers who carried that craft to America, the Shakers among them, kept it so, with round posts and honest timber.

This one keeps that frame and softens it. The headboard and footboard are padded and wrapped in a heathered weave, flecked yarns that give Cream or Stone a soft depth, held by four round posts of solid wood in Almond or Chestnut, over a kiln-dried wood frame. The headboard stands about 46 inches tall, padded enough to sit up against with a book. Wood slats hold a standard queen-size mattress and let air move beneath it, so you need no box spring, and the frame is rated to carry 794 lbs. Assembly is required.

Make it the bed in a primary bedroom, or in a spare room you want to feel generous for visiting family. Fabric and wood make a calm pairing that suits a coastal cottage or a pared-back city apartment equally well: dress it in white percale and an oatmeal linen throw, set oak bedside tables and ceramic lamps on either side, and hang a large landscape above. This listing is for the bed frame only; mattress and bedding are not included.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0751/5632/4487/files/bramley-house-bourton-round-post-upholstered-queen-bed-cream-with-almond-frame-01-front-pr.webp?v=1793571480
