thirsk-channel-tufted-velvet-queen-bed
BH | Studio Thirsk Channel-Tufted Velvet Queen Bed

The upholstered bed came into fashion in the 1930s, when Art Deco bedrooms swapped carved wood for padded velvet. Channel tufting, upholstery stitched into tall parallel ribs, was its signature, often on a headboard stepped in at the shoulders like the era's mirrors.

Here the headboard rises in vertical channels to a flat crown, curving inward at each top corner, and its padding makes a comfortable backrest for reading. Everything is wrapped in a stain-resistant performance velvet in Blush, Dove or Alabaster. Beneath the queen mattress, wood slats span an engineered wood frame, so no box spring is needed, and memory foam, innerspring, latex or hybrid mattresses all sit well. A strengthened centre rail with two extra legs adds support, the frame is rated to 800 lbs, and black wooden legs with protective caps keep floors unmarked. Assembly is required.

Give it the primary bedroom or a guest room with a touch of romance. Velvet over black legs reads pure 1930s boudoir: crisp white percale, a rose quilt folded at the foot, mirrored bedside tables and a pair of fluted glass lamps. Warm white walls keep it airy; deep green ones make the velvet glow. This listing is for the bed frame only; mattress and bedding are not included.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0751/5632/4487/files/bramley-house-thirsk-channel-tufted-velvet-queen-bed-blush-01-angle-pr.webp?v=1793253969
