HOUSE NOTE · ABOUT THIS PIECE

The four-poster gradually lost its canopy and much of its height over the nineteenth century, leaving the low-post bed, a headboard and footboard set between four sturdy posts. Leather stretched over a wooden frame has an even longer domestic history, from the studded chairs of seventeenth-century halls to the deep club chairs of Victorian libraries, and the two ideas meet naturally in a bed.

This one wraps the padded headboard, footboard and side rails in a vegan leather with a soft, slightly weathered grain, in Caramel or Bark, held within round posts and slim rails of solid wood. The cushioned headboard panel is nearly 21 inches tall, good for leaning back with a book. Beneath it, wood slats give a standard queen mattress a firm, airy base that does away with the box spring, and there are about seven inches below the rails for storage. Assembly is simple.

Use it in a primary bedroom or a guest room with a relaxed, outdoorsy feel. Leather-look panels and solid wood bring to mind saddle leather and a ranch house: dress it with white cotton, a woven wool blanket in rust and cream, oak nightstands, a pair of ceramic lamps and a cowhide or jute rug. Terracotta pots and a few cacti on the sill suit it. This listing is for the bed frame only; mattress and bedding are not included.

Care

Vegan leather upholstery
The vegan leather carries cleaning code WS, which means spot cleaning with upholstery shampoo, foam from a mild detergent, or a mild dry-cleaning solvent. Always test first on a small, hidden area, and do not saturate the surface. Vacuum often, or brush lightly with a stiff non-metallic brush, to lift dust and grime before it builds up. Where the surface has a pile, the same brushing restores its look. Blot spills straight away, and clean spots from the outside of the mark in toward the centre so it doesn't spread into a ring. Steam cleaning and hot-water extraction are not recommended. The padded casings should not be removed and laundered or dry-cleaned. When the whole piece looks soiled, call in a professional furniture cleaning service.

Wood frame
Dust the posts and rails with a soft, dry cloth, and wipe occasionally with a barely damp one, drying straight after. Keep the bed out of direct sun and away from radiators and heat vents to protect the wood. Check and tighten the bolts now and then, as you would with any bed frame.

A Note on Natural Variation
Where natural materials such as wood are used, slight variations in grain and colour from one piece to the next are to be expected, and give each its own character.

Shipping & Returns

Most pieces are dispatched within 3 to 5 business days and arrive within 2 to 4 weeks. Pieces marked Made to Order are built after you order, and the timing shown on that piece applies instead. Larger items ship by freight, and the carrier will call to arrange a delivery time that suits you. Shipping is calculated at checkout.

A few addresses, typically islands, peninsulas and remote rural routes, carry an additional fee from the carrier. If that applies to yours, we will email you the exact amount before your order is released, and you can accept it or cancel for a full refund.

Please inspect your piece on arrival and keep the packaging until you have. If anything is damaged or incorrect, photograph the piece and the box including the label, then email support@bramleyhousehome.com within 24 hours. We will arrange a replacement or repair at no cost to you.

Because each piece ships directly from the maker, we are not able to accept returns for change of mind.
