BH | Studio Beverley Cane-Panel Twin Bed

Woven cane reached Europe through the East India trade in the seventeenth century, and caned chairs became the fashion in England after 1660, prized for being light, cool and strong. It never really left: caned headboards returned in French-style bedrooms of the eighteenth century and again in airy mid-century bedrooms.

This twin bed is a solid hardwood frame in a Chestnut or Jet finish, with a headboard of two woven cane panels set between square posts, the pale weave showing against the wood. The cane is a hard-wearing synthetic weave. Engineered wood slats support the mattress and let air move beneath it, no box spring is needed, and memory foam, latex, innerspring or hybrid mattresses all work. The headboard fixes at any of three heights to suit the mattress. Slim tapered legs lift it clear of the floor, the frame is rated to hold 794 lbs, and assembly is required.

Give it a child's room or a small guest bedroom, where its light, open look keeps the space from feeling crowded. Wood and cane bring a vacation-house warmth: white cotton bedding, a striped blanket, a woven basket for toys at the foot and a rattan pendant overhead. Two side by side make a sunny guest room with one bedside table shared between them. This listing is for the bed frame only; mattress and bedding are not included.
