HOUSE NOTE · ABOUT THIS PIECE

The round arch is one of the oldest shapes in building, carried from Roman aqueducts into the doorways of ordinary houses. Padded, rounded headboards took it into the bedroom in the 1930s, where it works like a fanlight over a front door, softening the wall and framing what sits below.

The king carries the arch at its grandest, a padded half-round headboard about 51 inches tall that turns the wall behind it into a focal point. Low upholstered rails and a footboard close the frame around the mattress, all in a heathered woven fabric over dense foam, so there are no hard edges anywhere. Beneath, wooden slats hold the mattress directly, so a box spring is unnecessary; choose innerspring, latex, hybrid or memory foam. Laminated wood legs with non-marking caps rest lightly on the floor, the frame takes up to 800 lbs, and it needs assembly.

This is a bed for the primary bedroom or a generous guest suite, with room for two to read side by side against that tall curve. On this scale the heathered weave feels like a summer house by the sea: use crisp white sheets, a long bolster in flax linen and a throw in sand at the foot, with travertine lamps on broad bedside chests. Pale oak floors and a jute rug complete it. This listing is for the bed frame only; mattress and bedding are not included.

Care

Woven upholstery
The heathered woven fabric carries cleaning code S, which means spot cleaning with a water-free dry-cleaning solvent only, with no water or steam. Vacuum regularly to lift dust before it settles in. Blot spills straight away rather than rubbing. Before using any solvent cleaner, test it first on a small hidden area.

Wood frame
Check and tighten the bolts now and then, as you would with any bed frame, to keep it steady and quiet. Wipe up any spills or standing water on the slats promptly.

Wood legs
The legs are laminated veneer lumber, a strong structural wood built up from bonded layers of veneer. Dust with a soft, dry cloth, wipe occasionally with a barely damp one and dry straight after, and wipe up any standing water promptly. Keep out of direct sun and away from radiators and heat vents.

Shipping & Returns

Most pieces are dispatched within 3 to 5 business days and arrive within 2 to 4 weeks. Pieces marked Made to Order are built after you order, and the timing shown on that piece applies instead. Larger items ship by freight, and the carrier will call to arrange a delivery time that suits you. Shipping is calculated at checkout.

A few addresses, typically islands, peninsulas and remote rural routes, carry an additional fee from the carrier. If that applies to yours, we will email you the exact amount before your order is released, and you can accept it or cancel for a full refund.

Please inspect your piece on arrival and keep the packaging until you have. If anything is damaged or incorrect, photograph the piece and the box including the label, then email support@bramleyhousehome.com within 24 hours. We will arrange a replacement or repair at no cost to you.

Because each piece ships directly from the maker, we are not able to accept returns for change of mind.
