HOUSE NOTE · ABOUT THIS PIECE

Marble on a chest of drawers is a bedroom convention that went out of fashion and is worth bringing back. It's cool to the touch, hard-wearing, and it stops the top looking like more of the same wood. Washstands carried marble for the first two of those reasons.

A white marble top sits over a solid hardwood body in a warm russet, fluted down the front and round the sides so the grooves catch light around the whole piece, with four drawers on slim brass handles and rounded ball feet.

Use the marble the way a washstand's top was used: a lamp, a tray, a coaster under the glass, and the four drawers underneath for the folded clothes. Bramante was the architect who began St Peter's, and the family named for him leans on exactly that vocabulary: grooved columns, stone, and proportion doing the work instead of ornament.

Materials & Dimensions

Materials: White marble top on a 100% solid hardwood body in a warm russet finish, fluting to front and sides, four drawers, slim brass handles, rounded ball feet.

Product dimensions: Height 31.2 in, Width 29.6 in, Depth 13.6 in, Weight 83.78 lbs.

Boxed dimensions: Height 32.4 in, Width 33.6 in, Depth 17.6 in, Weight 97 lbs.

Care

MarbleWipe with a soft damp cloth. Blot spills straight away, in particular wine, citrus and anything oily, because marble is porous and will mark. Use coasters.

TimberKeep out of direct sunlight and away from radiators. An occasional pass of beeswax on the surface keeps the finish fed. Wipe spills quickly rather than letting them sit.

BrassDust with a dry cloth. Leave the brass to darken on its own if you like that, or bring it back with a little metal polish on a soft cloth, kept off the wood.

StabilityLike any chest of drawers, this one is safest anchored to the wall, and most of all in a child's room. A chest shifts its weight forward as soon as the drawers are open, so fit an anti-tip strap to the back and into a stud.

A note on handmade variationThis piece is made by hand from solid wood. Grain patterns, knots, and small variations in colour and dimension are part of it and not faults.

Shipping & Returns

Most pieces are dispatched within 3 to 5 business days and arrive within 2 to 4 weeks. Pieces marked Made to Order are built after you order, and the timing shown on that piece applies instead. Larger items ship by freight, and the carrier will call to arrange a delivery time that suits you. Shipping is calculated at checkout.

A few addresses, typically islands, peninsulas and remote rural routes, carry an additional fee from the carrier. If that applies to yours, we will email you the exact amount before your order is released, and you can accept it or cancel for a full refund.

Please inspect your piece on arrival and keep the packaging until you have. If anything is damaged or incorrect, photograph the piece and the box including the label, then email support@bramleyhousehome.com within 24 hours. We will arrange a replacement or repair at no cost to you.

Because each piece ships directly from the maker, we are not able to accept returns for change of mind.
