Faux bamboo is one of the oldest and best tricks in decorating. When Europe fell hard for all things Chinese a couple of centuries ago, and the Prince Regent built his bamboo-mad pavilion in Brighton, cabinetmakers began turning ordinary wood to mimic the ringed, segmented look of real bamboo. It caught on and never quite left, because it does something clever: it brings a little wit and a little of the exotic to a piece without ever tipping into costume.

This compact bedside takes the lighter approach: a single drawer up top for the private things, and an open shelf below for the book you're actually reading. Dressed in the family's bamboo-style carving, it brings a little wit right to the edge of the bed.

Built from solid wood in a warm russet finish, it stands on delicately carved bamboo-style legs, with a single drawer on an antique brass knob and an open lower shelf for a couple of books or a folded pair of glasses. At just 18 inches wide it slips in beside a bed without crowding it: run a pair for symmetry, or use one beside a reading chair. The open, airy member of the family.

Materials: 100% solid hardwood with bamboo-style turned framework. Russet finish over natural hardwood; round knob. Bedside/lamp table with a single storage drawer and an open lower display shelf; includes anti-tip wall-mount kit.

Care

Timber
Keep out of direct sunlight and away from radiators. An occasional pass of beeswax on the wood keeps the sheen and extends the life of the piece.

Stability
Like any chest of drawers, this one is safest anchored. Use the included wall strap to secure it, particularly in a child's room — a chest shifts its weight forward when the drawers are open, and anchoring is the simplest way to keep it steady.

A note on handmade variation
This piece is made by hand from solid wood. Grain patterns, knots, and small variations in tone or dimension occur naturally and are not faults. If you are buying several pieces to sit together in one room, order them together where possible, as batches can differ slightly in colour.

Shipping & Returns

Most pieces are dispatched within 3 to 5 business days and arrive within 2 to 4 weeks. Pieces marked Made to Order are built after you order, and the timing shown on that piece applies instead. Larger items ship by freight, and the carrier will call to arrange a delivery time that suits you. Shipping is calculated at checkout.

A few addresses, typically islands, peninsulas and remote rural routes, carry an additional fee from the carrier. If that applies to yours, we will email you the exact amount before your order is released, and you can accept it or cancel for a full refund.

Please inspect your piece on arrival and keep the packaging until you have. If anything is damaged or incorrect, photograph the piece and the box including the label, then email support@bramleyhousehome.com within 24 hours. We will arrange a replacement or repair at no cost to you.

Because each piece ships directly from the maker, we are not able to accept returns for change of mind.
