HOUSE NOTE · ABOUT THIS PIECE

Burl is one of the most prized figures a cabinetmaker can find: a rounded growth on the trunk where the grain knots and whirls, sliced into thin leaves so its pattern can be spread across a door. German Biedermeier cabinetmakers of the early nineteenth century loved figured and burl veneers on simple, clean-lined cases, and in 1920s Paris Art Deco makers faced whole cabinets in it. A sheet of burl still turns a plain case into the piece guests remark on.

At 18 inches wide, it is made for a tight corner. The hardwood frame carries chestnut burl veneer, deep honey-brown grain broken by clusters of darker knots, and stands on four tapered legs. A ceramic basin in White or Jet is cast together with its countertop and drilled with 8-inch centerset faucet holes. Up top, a fixed drawer front with a brass-tone pull keeps the proportions of a little chest, and below it one door on a concealed hinge opens to shelving, with a cutout at the back to clear the plumbing. Assembly is required.

Put it where a full-size vanity will not go: a half bath under the stairs, a pool house or a small attic bathroom, with hand towels and a spare roll inside. Warm burl makes a tiny room feel finished; pair it with a round mirror hung on a brass chain, a single sconce and a busy, old-fashioned wallpaper. This listing is for one vanity with its ceramic basin top; the faucet is not included.

Care

Wood frame
Dust the hardwood frame and burl veneer with a soft, dry cloth, and wipe occasionally with a barely damp one, drying straight after. Wipe up splashes and standing water promptly, especially around the top edge and the base, and keep the bathroom well ventilated so moisture does not linger. Keep out of direct sun and away from radiators and heat vents.

Ceramic basin
Clean the basin and integrated counter with a mild, non-abrasive cleaner and a soft cloth, then rinse and wipe dry. Avoid scouring pads and harsh chemicals, which can dull the glaze.

Brass-finish hardware
Wipe the brass-tone pull and knob with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners and metal polishes, which can wear through the finish.

Installation
Install and connect this vanity as you would any freestanding vanity, ideally by a plumber.

A Note on Natural Variation
Where natural materials such as wood are used, slight variations in grain and colour from one piece to the next are to be expected, and give each its own character.

Shipping & Returns

Most pieces are dispatched within 3 to 5 business days and arrive within 2 to 4 weeks. Pieces marked Made to Order are built after you order, and the timing shown on that piece applies instead. Larger items ship by freight, and the carrier will call to arrange a delivery time that suits you. Shipping is calculated at checkout.

A few addresses, typically islands, peninsulas and remote rural routes, carry an additional fee from the carrier. If that applies to yours, we will email you the exact amount before your order is released, and you can accept it or cancel for a full refund.

Please inspect your piece on arrival and keep the packaging until you have. If anything is damaged or incorrect, photograph the piece and the box including the label, then email support@bramleyhousehome.com within 24 hours. We will arrange a replacement or repair at no cost to you.

Because each piece ships directly from the maker, we are not able to accept returns for change of mind.
