HOUSE NOTE · ABOUT THIS PIECE

A grid is an unusual thing to build a bench out of and a very modern one. The frame here is open squares rather than solid sides, so the piece is substantial without being heavy to look at: you see through it to the floor and the wall behind.

A solid wood frame with charcoal leather over the seat, in a clean structured silhouette with nothing turned, carved or softened. Forty-four inches long and twenty-four high, with the leather pulled flat rather than buttoned.

It is taller than most benches, which makes it a better fit at the end of a tall bed or against a wall as seating rather than as a place to put things down. In a room of curved and upholstered pieces it supplies the straight lines that stop everything drifting, which is a job worth paying a bench to do.

Materials & Dimensions

Materials: Charcoal leather over a solid wood frame, open grid-line structure, squared-off form.

Care

Leather seat
Wipe with a soft dry cloth. For marks, use a barely damp cloth and let it dry naturally. Avoid solvents and household cleaners. The leather will soften and deepen in colour where people actually sit, which is rather the point of it.

Timber
Keep out of direct sunlight and away from radiators. An occasional pass of beeswax on the unpainted wood keeps the sheen and extends the life of the piece.

A note on handmade variation
This piece is made by hand from solid wood. Grain patterns, knots, and small variations in tone or dimension occur naturally and are not faults. If you are buying several pieces to sit together in one room, order them together where possible, as batches can differ slightly in colour.

Shipping & Returns

Most pieces are dispatched within 3 to 5 business days and arrive within 2 to 4 weeks. Pieces marked Made to Order are built after you order, and the timing shown on that piece applies instead. Larger items ship by freight, and the carrier will call to arrange a delivery time that suits you. Shipping is calculated at checkout.

A few addresses, typically islands, peninsulas and remote rural routes, carry an additional fee from the carrier. If that applies to yours, we will email you the exact amount before your order is released, and you can accept it or cancel for a full refund.

Please inspect your piece on arrival and keep the packaging until you have. If anything is damaged or incorrect, photograph the piece and the box including the label, then email support@bramleyhousehome.com within 24 hours. We will arrange a replacement or repair at no cost to you.

Because each piece ships directly from the maker, we are not able to accept returns for change of mind.
