BH | Studio Clovelly Spindle Full Bed

Turned spindles run through English and American country furniture, from the backs of Windsor chairs to the spool beds of mid-1800s America. Designers of the 1950s pared the idea down to a row of slim uprights on tapered legs, and it has looked fresh ever since.

Its open headboard is made of turned spindles running between two round posts, which finish in gentle domes at the top and slim down as they reach the floor. The frame is 100% solid hardwood finished in Honey, Jet or Chestnut. Across the base, a run of wood slats takes a standard full mattress with nothing else beneath it, and the frame is rated to 800 lbs. With close to ten inches of space below the side rails, there is room for under-bed boxes of sweaters and spare linen, and the headboard is high enough to lean back against with a book. Assembly is required.

A full is roomy for one sleeper and comfortable for two, which makes it the right bed for a guest room, a teenager's room or a first apartment. It looks at home in a cottage bedroom with whitewashed walls, a striped wool blanket, a small rush-seat chair as a bedside table and a woven basket of extra pillows. It brings warmth to a plain white studio, too. This listing is for the bed frame only; mattress and bedding are not included.
