BH | Studio Clovelly Spindle Twin Bed

Turned spindles run through English and American country furniture, from the backs of Windsor chairs to the spool beds of mid-1800s America. Designers of the 1950s pared the idea down to a row of slim uprights on tapered legs, and it has looked fresh ever since.

Slender turned spindles fill the headboard, framed by a pair of corner posts that rise to rounded tops and narrow gently toward the floor, with a shorter pair at the foot. Every part of the frame is 100% solid hardwood, finished in Honey, Jet or Chestnut. Wood slats run across the frame to support a standard twin mattress without a box spring, and it is rated to 800 lbs, so it takes bouncing and sleepovers in its stride. Almost ten inches of clearance under the side rails gives a home to rolling toy bins or boxes of books. Assembly is required.

A twin is the classic first big-kid bed, and it fits easily into a small guest room, a sloped attic room or a home office that doubles as a spare bedroom. Any of the three finishes suits a child's room: add a gingham or patchwork quilt, a reading lamp clipped to the headboard, a wool rug and a peg rail for coats. A pair side by side makes a cheerful room for visiting grandchildren. This listing is for the twin frame only; mattress and bedding are not included.
