BH | Studio Crail Arched Cane Queen Bed

Woven cane reached Britain through the East India trade in the later seventeenth century, and cane-backed chairs soon became the height of fashion in Restoration London, prized for being light and cool. Cane has returned in nearly every generation since, and an arched headboard gives it a soft, almost architectural frame, the kind of light, airy piece that suits a bright bedroom in a Scottish harbor village like Crail.

This queen bed has a tall, gently arched headboard of natural rattan cane, the open weave framed in solid wood finished in Jet or Honey, so the golden cane reads like a panel of light within the frame. The headboard rises over 47 inches, tall enough to sit up against with pillows for reading. The frame is kiln-dried solid wood on slim tapered round legs fitted with non-marking glides, plus center support legs beneath. Sturdy wood slats carry the mattress directly, so no box spring is needed, and it suits most types of queen mattress. The frame is rated to 800 lbs. Assembly is required.

It makes a striking centrepiece for a primary bedroom or guest room. Wood and cane are crisp and graphic: dress it in white percale and a black-and-white striped throw, with rattan or ebonised bedside tables, paper lanterns, palms in clay pots and jute underfoot. This listing is for the bed frame only; mattress and bedding are not included.
