HOUSE NOTE · ABOUT THIS PIECE

Around Estremoz, in Portugal's Alentejo, marble has been quarried since Roman times, and the pale stone turns up everywhere from palace floors to the doorsteps of whitewashed village houses. A disc of marble on a simple wooden stand is a very old and very good pairing.

Here the stand is two flat hardwood slabs slotted together in a cross, their broad, square-cut ends reaching out to the floor so the table stands firm. The round top is solid marble, white with soft grey veining, every one a little different. Adjustable pads under the feet protect the floor and steady it on uneven boards. It needs some assembly.

Set it beside an armchair for a morning cup of coffee, at the end of a sofa as a drink table, or by the bed with a lamp. It makes a handsome stand for a potted fern or an orchid. Natural wood and pale stone sit well with linen, cane and terracotta.

Care

Marble top
Marble is porous, so wipe up spills straight away, especially wine, coffee, citrus and oil, and use coasters under glasses and hot dishes. Clean with a soft cloth and a little mild soap in water, then dry. Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners, which can etch or dull the stone.

Wood base
Dust with a soft, dry cloth, and wipe occasionally with a barely damp one, drying straight after. Keep out of direct sun and away from radiators and heat vents to protect the wood.

A Note on Natural Variation
Where natural materials such as wood and marble are used, slight variations in grain, veining and colour from one piece to the next are to be expected, and give each its own character.

Shipping & Returns

Most pieces are dispatched within 3 to 5 business days and arrive within 2 to 4 weeks. Pieces marked Made to Order are built after you order, and the timing shown on that piece applies instead. Larger items ship by freight, and the carrier will call to arrange a delivery time that suits you. Shipping is calculated at checkout.

A few addresses, typically islands, peninsulas and remote rural routes, carry an additional fee from the carrier. If that applies to yours, we will email you the exact amount before your order is released, and you can accept it or cancel for a full refund.

Please inspect your piece on arrival and keep the packaging until you have. If anything is damaged or incorrect, photograph the piece and the box including the label, then email support@bramleyhousehome.com within 24 hours. We will arrange a replacement or repair at no cost to you.

Because each piece ships directly from the maker, we are not able to accept returns for change of mind.
