HOUSE NOTE · ABOUT THIS PIECE

Ticking began as the tightly woven, narrow-striped cloth that covered mattresses and pillows in country houses across France and Belgium, its dense weave made to keep the feathers in. Later generations liked it so well that they brought it out of the bedroom and onto chairs and cushions.

Here a fine woven stripe dresses a chair built like an old joiner's piece. Square back posts with small rounded tops hold a padded cushion that lifts off, leaving the timber frame open behind it. The seat is generously padded and low rails keep the natural hardwood frame firm and square. It comes ready to use, with nothing to assemble.

Bring them to a farmhouse table in a kitchen with open shelves, or a round table in a sunroom. The stripe looks crisp beside whitewashed walls, blue and white china and a bunch of lavender. This listing is for a set of two chairs.

Care

Striped upholstery
Vacuum lightly with a brush attachment to lift dust. Blot spills straight away rather than rubbing. For anything more, use a professional upholstery cleaner. Keep out of prolonged direct sun, which fades fabric over time.

Wood frame
Dust with a soft, dry cloth, and wipe occasionally with a barely damp one, drying straight after. Keep out of direct sun and away from radiators and heat vents to protect the wood.

A Note on Natural Variation
Where natural materials such as wood are used, slight variations in grain and colour from one piece to the next are to be expected, and give each its own character.

Shipping & Returns

Most pieces are dispatched within 3 to 5 business days and arrive within 2 to 4 weeks. Pieces marked Made to Order are built after you order, and the timing shown on that piece applies instead. Larger items ship by freight, and the carrier will call to arrange a delivery time that suits you. Shipping is calculated at checkout.

A few addresses, typically islands, peninsulas and remote rural routes, carry an additional fee from the carrier. If that applies to yours, we will email you the exact amount before your order is released, and you can accept it or cancel for a full refund.

Please inspect your piece on arrival and keep the packaging until you have. If anything is damaged or incorrect, photograph the piece and the box including the label, then email support@bramleyhousehome.com within 24 hours. We will arrange a replacement or repair at no cost to you.

Because each piece ships directly from the maker, we are not able to accept returns for change of mind.
