HOUSE NOTE · ABOUT THIS PIECE

Six to eight pairs is the number that matters here, because that is roughly what a front hall accumulates in a week. Two racks drop open, the whole lot goes away, and the floor comes back.

A clay linen upholstered seat over solid wood, with two drop-down racks underneath, open at the front and sized properly for shoes and boots. Thirty-six inches long, twenty-one high, fourteen deep, which is narrow enough to sit against a wall in a corridor without closing it down.

Open racks rather than closed drawers, which is the better arrangement for a hall that gets wet boots: air moves through, so nothing is shut away damp, and you can toe a pair in without putting anything down. You sit on it to put the shoes on and tip them back in underneath you. The linen takes a cushion well if you want the hall to feel softer.

Care

Linen upholstery
Vacuum gently with a soft brush attachment. Spot-clean spills promptly with a clean, damp cloth and a little mild soap, then blot dry. Keep out of direct, sustained sunlight to preserve the colour.

Drawers
Wooden runners move more sweetly with an occasional rub of candle wax along the bearing edge. Do not force a drawer that has swollen in damp weather; let the room dry out first.

Timber
Keep out of direct sunlight and away from radiators. An occasional pass of beeswax on the unpainted wood keeps the sheen and extends the life of the piece.

A note on handmade variation
This piece is made by hand from solid wood. Grain patterns, knots, and small variations in tone or dimension occur naturally and are not faults. If you are buying several pieces to sit together in one room, order them together where possible, as batches can differ slightly in colour.

Shipping & Returns

Most pieces are dispatched within 3 to 5 business days and arrive within 2 to 4 weeks. Pieces marked Made to Order are built after you order, and the timing shown on that piece applies instead. Larger items ship by freight, and the carrier will call to arrange a delivery time that suits you. Shipping is calculated at checkout.

A few addresses, typically islands, peninsulas and remote rural routes, carry an additional fee from the carrier. If that applies to yours, we will email you the exact amount before your order is released, and you can accept it or cancel for a full refund.

Please inspect your piece on arrival and keep the packaging until you have. If anything is damaged or incorrect, photograph the piece and the box including the label, then email support@bramleyhousehome.com within 24 hours. We will arrange a replacement or repair at no cost to you.

Because each piece ships directly from the maker, we are not able to accept returns for change of mind.
