HOUSE NOTE · ABOUT THIS PIECE

Scalloped edges on a small piece are a nineteenth-century country habit, and they do the same job as the trim round a ceiling: break the line so the eye has somewhere to rest. It is a quiet detail that does a surprising amount of work.

The same table in a warm chestnut, deeper and redder than the amber, with the same scalloped detailing, one drawer and an open shelf below. Twelve inches square and sixteen high, which is small enough to sit beside a single bed without crowding the wall it stands against.

Chestnut is the one to take against painted furniture or a papered wall, where its depth gives the colour something to sit against. Use the open shelf for the book you are actually reading and the drawer for everything you would rather not see. Two of them flanking a bed read as a deliberate pair.

Care

Metal knobs
Dust with a soft, dry cloth; keep polish off the surrounding wood.

Timber
Keep out of direct sunlight and away from radiators. An occasional pass of beeswax on the unpainted wood keeps the sheen and extends the life of the piece.

A note on handmade variation
This piece is made by hand from solid wood. Grain patterns, knots, and small variations in tone or dimension occur naturally and are not faults. If you are buying several pieces to sit together in one room, order them together where possible, as batches can differ slightly in colour.

Shipping & Returns

Most pieces are dispatched within 3 to 5 business days and arrive within 2 to 4 weeks. Pieces marked Made to Order are built after you order, and the timing shown on that piece applies instead. Larger items ship by freight, and the carrier will call to arrange a delivery time that suits you. Shipping is calculated at checkout.

A few addresses, typically islands, peninsulas and remote rural routes, carry an additional fee from the carrier. If that applies to yours, we will email you the exact amount before your order is released, and you can accept it or cancel for a full refund.

Please inspect your piece on arrival and keep the packaging until you have. If anything is damaged or incorrect, photograph the piece and the box including the label, then email support@bramleyhousehome.com within 24 hours. We will arrange a replacement or repair at no cost to you.

Because each piece ships directly from the maker, we are not able to accept returns for change of mind.
