BH | Studio Hawes Arched Velvet Twin Bed

The arch is one of the oldest shapes in building, and in the 1920s and 1930s Art Deco designers turned it into ornament, stacking concentric curves on gates, radio cabinets and cinema fronts like a rising sun. The layered arch came back in the 1970s as the rainbow.

This twin bed has a rounded arch headboard built from three padded bands nested one inside the other, each layer stepping out from the last so the curve has real depth. Dense foam beneath the upholstery makes it soft to lean against with a book. The headboard and the low plinth base, a solid upholstered surround that runs down to the floor, are covered in a stain-resistant performance velvet in Aegean, Moss, Taupe, Claret or Terracotta. Wood slats inside the frame support a standard twin mattress with no box spring needed, the bed is rated to 800 lbs, and assembly is required.

It makes a wonderful next bed for a child moving on from a toddler bed, and it suits a guest room or dorm too. In Aegean the velvet is calm and a little nautical: pair it with white and navy striped bedding, a mustard cushion, a round mirror and a pale oak bedside table. Against warm white walls the arch reads clean and graphic. This listing is for the bed frame only; mattress and bedding are not included.
