Most benches ask you to sit on a hard plank, and most hall benches give you nothing to lean against either. This one has a low upholstered arm at each end, which turns a perch into somewhere you might actually stay for longer than it takes to find the other shoe.

The seat and arms are upholstered in a full tobacco hide, with the round ends of each arm faced in a plush cream bouclé, and the whole thing rests on hand-turned feet in a warm mid-brown finish. Thirty-seven inches long, nineteen high, which is a proper sitting height rather than the low perch most hall benches offer.

The arms are the part that makes it work: they give you something to put a hand on getting up, and they stop a long seat from reading as a slab. The bouclé facing is the only soft note against all that leather, and it sits exactly where the eye lands first, at the two ends.

Care

Leather
Wipe with a soft dry cloth. For marks, use a barely damp cloth and let it dry naturally. Avoid solvents and household cleaners. The leather will soften and deepen in colour with use, which is rather the point of it.

Bouclé
Vacuum gently with a soft brush attachment to keep the loops even. Spot-clean promptly with a clean, damp cloth and a little mild soap, then blot dry. Snags can be eased back into the weave rather than cut.

Timber
Keep out of direct sunlight and away from radiators. An occasional pass of beeswax on the unpainted wood keeps the sheen and extends the life of the piece.

A note on handmade variation
This piece is made by hand from solid wood. Grain patterns, knots, and small variations in tone or dimension occur naturally and are not faults. If you are buying several pieces to sit together in one room, order them together where possible, as batches can differ slightly in colour.

Shipping & Returns

Most pieces are dispatched within 3 to 5 business days and arrive within 2 to 4 weeks. Pieces marked Made to Order are built after you order, and the timing shown on that piece applies instead. Larger items ship by freight, and the carrier will call to arrange a delivery time that suits you. Shipping is calculated at checkout.

A few addresses, typically islands, peninsulas and remote rural routes, carry an additional fee from the carrier. If that applies to yours, we will email you the exact amount before your order is released, and you can accept it or cancel for a full refund.

Please inspect your piece on arrival and keep the packaging until you have. If anything is damaged or incorrect, photograph the piece and the box including the label, then email support@bramleyhousehome.com within 24 hours. We will arrange a replacement or repair at no cost to you.

Because each piece ships directly from the maker, we are not able to accept returns for change of mind.
