HOUSE NOTE · ABOUT THIS PIECE

Portugal has a long tradition of working ornament into wood, from the gilded carved altarpieces of its churches to the turned furniture of its old houses. American furniture makers of the 1950s and 1960s did the same with carved and ribbed fronts, giving texture to the long, low cases of the period. The ornament is part of the wood itself rather than applied to it, and that kind of quiet detail suits a bathroom in a sunny coastal town like Lagos.

This one is a freestanding cabinet in solid hardwood with a warm chestnut finish, its front cut into close horizontal ribs that run across the doors and sides. Two doors on soft-close hinges open onto a roomy cabinet with an adjustable shelf, space for towels, spare soap and the hair dryer. Small square brass pulls sit at the centre. On top, a white ceramic sink and countertop come as one piece, drilled with 8-inch centerset faucet holes. It rests on tapered legs with non-marking foot caps to spare the tile. The faucet and plumbing fixtures are not included, and assembly is required.

At 24 inches wide it fits a powder room, a guest bath or a small primary bath where every inch counts, and it installs like any vanity. Chestnut and white feel warm and fresh together: hang a round brass-framed mirror above, add a brushed brass faucet, a stack of white waffle towels and a small plant, against white zellige or soft green tile. This listing is for one vanity with its ceramic sink top.

Care

Wood frame
The cabinet is solid hardwood. Dust with a soft, dry cloth, and wipe occasionally with a barely damp one, drying straight after. Use a soft brush to lift dust from the ribbed door and side panels. Wipe up splashes and standing water promptly, especially along the top edge of the cabinet and around the base and legs, and keep the bathroom well ventilated so moisture does not linger. Keep out of direct sun and away from radiators and heat vents. Wipe the brass pulls with a soft, dry cloth.

Ceramic basin
The countertop and basin are ceramic, made in one piece. Clean with a mild, non-abrasive cleaner and a soft cloth, then rinse and wipe dry. Avoid scouring pads and harsh chemicals, which can dull the glaze.

Installation
Install and connect like any freestanding vanity, ideally by a licensed plumber. Once it is in place, check that it stands level and steady on the floor.

A Note on Natural Variation
Where natural materials such as wood are used, slight variations in grain and colour from one piece to the next are to be expected, and give each its own character.

Shipping & Returns

Most pieces are dispatched within 3 to 5 business days and arrive within 2 to 4 weeks. Pieces marked Made to Order are built after you order, and the timing shown on that piece applies instead. Larger items ship by freight, and the carrier will call to arrange a delivery time that suits you. Shipping is calculated at checkout.

A few addresses, typically islands, peninsulas and remote rural routes, carry an additional fee from the carrier. If that applies to yours, we will email you the exact amount before your order is released, and you can accept it or cancel for a full refund.

Please inspect your piece on arrival and keep the packaging until you have. If anything is damaged or incorrect, photograph the piece and the box including the label, then email support@bramleyhousehome.com within 24 hours. We will arrange a replacement or repair at no cost to you.

Because each piece ships directly from the maker, we are not able to accept returns for change of mind.
