HOUSE NOTE · ABOUT THIS PIECE

Bobbin turning is the detail where a post is shaped into a run of small rounds stacked one on the next, like a line of beads. It was all over English furniture four hundred years ago, fell out of fashion, came back in the 1800s, and has never really left since.

Here it runs up the corner columns of a two-door cabinet in solid wood with a rich claret finish, over tapered legs, with brass bar handles and a shelf inside. Thirty-two inches square, which is a compact footprint for the amount of cupboard it provides.

A cabinet this size is useful almost anywhere: drinks in a sitting room, china in a dining room, or the things a hallway accumulates and has nowhere to put. The claret is dark enough to hide fingerprints around the handles and warm enough not to go gloomy in a room with one window.

Materials & Dimensions

Materials: Solid hardwood throughout in a claret finish, bobbin-turned corner columns either side of two doors, brass bar handles, tapered legs, one shelf inside.

Care

Brass handles
Dust with a soft, dry cloth. Leave the patina to come on its own; polish only if you want it bright.

Timber
Keep out of direct sunlight and away from radiators. An occasional pass of beeswax on the unpainted wood keeps the sheen and extends the life of the piece.

A note on handmade variation
This piece is made by hand from solid wood. Grain patterns, knots, and small variations in tone or dimension occur naturally and are not faults. If you are buying several pieces to sit together in one room, order them together where possible, as batches can differ slightly in colour.

Shipping & Returns

Most pieces are dispatched within 3 to 5 business days and arrive within 2 to 4 weeks. Pieces marked Made to Order are built after you order, and the timing shown on that piece applies instead. Larger items ship by freight, and the carrier will call to arrange a delivery time that suits you. Shipping is calculated at checkout.

A few addresses, typically islands, peninsulas and remote rural routes, carry an additional fee from the carrier. If that applies to yours, we will email you the exact amount before your order is released, and you can accept it or cancel for a full refund.

Please inspect your piece on arrival and keep the packaging until you have. If anything is damaged or incorrect, photograph the piece and the box including the label, then email support@bramleyhousehome.com within 24 hours. We will arrange a replacement or repair at no cost to you.

Because each piece ships directly from the maker, we are not able to accept returns for change of mind.
