HOUSE NOTE · ABOUT THIS PIECE

Bobbin turning is one of those honest, unshowy details that has quietly held furniture together, and made it prettier, for a few hundred years. Those knobbly rows of stacked beads are a woodturner's way of showing off without ever raising their voice: Jacobean joiners loved them, and the Victorians revived them in their spool furniture. They give this bedside table its whole character.

Built from solid wood in a warm russet finish, a soft mid-brown with a faint red warmth, it carries bobbin-turned, beaded detailing down its sides and stands on gently tapered legs. Two deep drawers on round brass knobs keep the bedside clutter out of sight, and at a generous 22 inches wide it gives you a proper surface rather than a token ledge.

Its scale makes it a natural beside a larger or taller bed, where a dainty piece would look lost, and a pair framing a king reads calm and substantial. In russet it feels grounded and traditional, handsome against a deeper wall or layered into a room with a bit of patina.

Care

Timber
Keep out of direct sunlight and away from radiators. An occasional pass of beeswax on the wood keeps the sheen and extends the life of the piece.

Brass
Dust the handle with a soft, dry cloth. Left alone, the brass will mellow and darken a little with time, which most people come to prefer. If you like it bright, an occasional gentle brass polish brings it back — just keep the polish off the surrounding wood.

A note on handmade variation
This piece is made by hand from solid wood. Grain patterns, knots, and small variations in tone or dimension occur naturally and are not faults. If you are buying several pieces to sit together in one room, order them together where possible, as batches can differ slightly in colour.

Shipping & Returns

Most pieces are dispatched within 3 to 5 business days and arrive within 2 to 4 weeks. Pieces marked Made to Order are built after you order, and the timing shown on that piece applies instead. Larger items ship by freight, and the carrier will call to arrange a delivery time that suits you. Shipping is calculated at checkout.

A few addresses, typically islands, peninsulas and remote rural routes, carry an additional fee from the carrier. If that applies to yours, we will email you the exact amount before your order is released, and you can accept it or cancel for a full refund.

Please inspect your piece on arrival and keep the packaging until you have. If anything is damaged or incorrect, photograph the piece and the box including the label, then email support@bramleyhousehome.com within 24 hours. We will arrange a replacement or repair at no cost to you.

Because each piece ships directly from the maker, we are not able to accept returns for change of mind.
