HOUSE NOTE · ABOUT THIS PIECE

In 1958 Brussels hosted Expo 58, a world's fair that put light, modern furniture in front of millions of visitors, and the curved, splay-legged chairs of that era are still loved across Belgium, not least in the university town of Leuven.

The back is a wide crescent, a curved shell that cups the shoulders, carried on the rear legs as they rise to meet it, and the rounded seat is padded with dense foam. Both are covered in a slub weave, a fabric of uneven yarns with a soft, nubby texture. The hardwood frame is finished in a warm brown, and the legs taper and splay for a steady stance. It arrives fully built.

Gather them round a dining table for long dinners, or at a breakfast nook with the morning paper. Warm wood and textured cloth sit happily with a teak sideboard, green glass and a bowl of clementines. This listing is for a set of two chairs.

Care

Woven upholstery
The polyester fabric carries cleaning code S, which means spot cleaning only, with a water-free dry-cleaning solvent. Never use water or steam. Vacuum regularly to lift dust. Blot spills straight away rather than rubbing. Before using any cleaner, test it first on a small area out of sight.

Wood frame
Dust with a soft, dry cloth, and wipe occasionally with a barely damp one, drying straight after. Keep out of direct sun and away from radiators and heat vents to protect the wood.

A Note on Natural Variation
Where natural materials such as wood are used, slight variations in grain and colour from one piece to the next are to be expected, and give each its own character.

Shipping & Returns

Most pieces are dispatched within 3 to 5 business days and arrive within 2 to 4 weeks. Pieces marked Made to Order are built after you order, and the timing shown on that piece applies instead. Larger items ship by freight, and the carrier will call to arrange a delivery time that suits you. Shipping is calculated at checkout.

A few addresses, typically islands, peninsulas and remote rural routes, carry an additional fee from the carrier. If that applies to yours, we will email you the exact amount before your order is released, and you can accept it or cancel for a full refund.

Please inspect your piece on arrival and keep the packaging until you have. If anything is damaged or incorrect, photograph the piece and the box including the label, then email support@bramleyhousehome.com within 24 hours. We will arrange a replacement or repair at no cost to you.

Because each piece ships directly from the maker, we are not able to accept returns for change of mind.
