HOUSE NOTE · ABOUT THIS PIECE

Woven cane reached England with the East India trade, and by the 1660s caned chairs and daybeds were the fashion: light, cool and springy. Mid-century makers revived it, setting cane panels into plain wood frames so a bed looked airy rather than heavy.

At king width, the grid of woven cane panels becomes a wide, airy screen behind the bed, framed in chestnut-toned wood. The low platform rests on angled solid hardwood legs that turn under into a sled shape, a tidy mid-century outline, and the frame is engineered wood finished in wood veneer. Slats with a reinforced centre beam and support legs give the mattress a steady base, no box spring needed, and latex, memory foam, innerspring or hybrid all work. The top of the headboard sits 41 to 51 inches above the floor. It carries up to 601 lbs, and assembly is required.

Put it in a primary bedroom or a guest suite with room to spread out. Chestnut wood and natural cane look warm and easygoing in a large room: layer sand and white linen, a mud-cloth throw and a pair of walnut nightstands with paper lanterns or woven lamps. Sage or warm white walls and a sisal rug keep it calm. This listing is for the bed frame only; mattress and bedding are not included.

Care

Wood frame
Dust with a soft, dry cloth, and wipe occasionally with a barely damp one, drying straight after. Wipe up any standing water promptly, as the engineered wood and veneer should not stay wet. Keep the bed out of direct sun and away from radiators and heat vents to protect the wood and its finish. Check and tighten the bolts now and then, the way you would with any bed frame, to keep it feeling solid.

Cane
Brush or vacuum the cane panels gently with a soft brush attachment, and wipe with a barely damp cloth when needed. Keep away from heat and direct sun, which dry the fibres.

A Note on Natural Variation
Where natural materials such as wood are used, slight variations in grain and colour from one piece to the next are to be expected, and give each its own character.

Shipping & Returns

Most pieces are dispatched within 3 to 5 business days and arrive within 2 to 4 weeks. Pieces marked Made to Order are built after you order, and the timing shown on that piece applies instead. Larger items ship by freight, and the carrier will call to arrange a delivery time that suits you. Shipping is calculated at checkout.

A few addresses, typically islands, peninsulas and remote rural routes, carry an additional fee from the carrier. If that applies to yours, we will email you the exact amount before your order is released, and you can accept it or cancel for a full refund.

Please inspect your piece on arrival and keep the packaging until you have. If anything is damaged or incorrect, photograph the piece and the box including the label, then email support@bramleyhousehome.com within 24 hours. We will arrange a replacement or repair at no cost to you.

Because each piece ships directly from the maker, we are not able to accept returns for change of mind.
