HOUSE NOTE · ABOUT THIS PIECE

True elegance lies in good materials left to tell their own story. This one is hand-carved from solid wood: a gently waved crest along the top of the back, open scrolled arms, and legs that sweep out and curve back in at the foot, all finished in a pale, sun-weathered wood with the grain left visible.

A little history, since it earns it. This is the open-armed French chair, the sociable one, its sides left bare so it sits light in a room and moves easily from fireside to writing desk. In its grander eighteenth-century form the shape was the height of Paris salon fashion, but this one wears that inheritance in the softer country key the French call provincial: relaxed, unfussy, made to be lived with. It's fully upholstered in a textured linen in a soft greyed clay, a warm, earthy neutral that flatters the curves rather than competing with them.

Made for a note of quiet, sun-warmed romance in a bedroom, dressing room, or reading alcove, it has the easy charm of a chair that has been loved in one house for generations.

Care

Linen upholstery
Vacuum gently with a soft brush attachment. Spot-clean spills promptly with a clean, damp cloth — blot, don't rub. Natural linen relaxes and creases with use; that softness is part of the look. Keep out of direct, sustained sunlight to preserve the colour.

Timber frame
Dust with a soft, dry cloth. Wipe spills promptly and avoid harsh cleaners on the pale finish. Keep out of direct, sustained sunlight, which can shift the tone. An occasional pass of beeswax on the unpainted wood keeps the sheen and extends the life of the piece.

A note on handmade variation
As the frame is hand-carved and hand-finished and the chair hand-upholstered, slight variations in carving, tone, and weave are natural and unique to your piece.

Shipping & Returns

Most pieces are dispatched within 3 to 5 business days and arrive within 2 to 4 weeks. Pieces marked Made to Order are built after you order, and the timing shown on that piece applies instead. Larger items ship by freight, and the carrier will call to arrange a delivery time that suits you. Shipping is calculated at checkout.

A few addresses, typically islands, peninsulas and remote rural routes, carry an additional fee from the carrier. If that applies to yours, we will email you the exact amount before your order is released, and you can accept it or cancel for a full refund.

Please inspect your piece on arrival and keep the packaging until you have. If anything is damaged or incorrect, photograph the piece and the box including the label, then email support@bramleyhousehome.com within 24 hours. We will arrange a replacement or repair at no cost to you.

Because each piece ships directly from the maker, we are not able to accept returns for change of mind.
