HOUSE NOTE · ABOUT THIS PIECE

Nineteenth-century Vienna made woven cane famous, stretching it across the seats of bentwood café chairs by the thousand because it was light, springy and let air through, and Italy had its own light woven-seat chair at Chiavari on the Ligurian coast. Through the Victorian and Edwardian years the same weave dressed bedroom chairs and bed heads, in rooms where the washstand still stood in the corner.

This vanity keeps the washstand's modest scale: a solid hardwood cabinet in black on short tapered feet, topped in ceramic, White or Jet, that forms counter and basin as one smooth piece, pre-drilled with faucet holes at 8-inch centerset spacing. Three drawer fronts are panelled in natural cane with slim satin brass pulls. The top front is fixed, hiding the basin; the middle drawer is notched to clear the plumbing; the bottom drawer gives full storage. Working drawers run on full-extension slides, non-marking caps protect tile, and it is rated to 200 lbs. Assembly is required.

Sized for a powder room, a small guest bath or a narrow wall by the tub, it gives a compact bathroom a real piece of furniture. Keep rolled hand towels and spare soap in the drawer. Black, cane and brass have the air of a 1920s seaside hotel: hang a round brass mirror, add a palm in a terracotta pot and a black and white checkerboard floor. It installs like any freestanding vanity. This listing is for one 24-inch vanity cabinet with its ceramic basin top; faucet not included.

Care

Wood frame
Dust with a soft, dry cloth, and wipe occasionally with a barely damp one, drying straight after. Wipe up splashes and standing water promptly, especially along the top edge and around the base and legs, and keep the bathroom well ventilated so moisture does not linger. Keep out of direct sun and away from radiators and heat vents.

Cane
Brush or vacuum the cane gently with a soft brush attachment, and wipe with a barely damp cloth when needed. Keep splashes off the cane and dry it promptly if it gets wet. Keep away from heat and direct sun, which dry the fibres.

Ceramic basin
Clean the countertop and basin with a mild, non-abrasive cleaner and a soft cloth, then wipe dry. Avoid scouring pads and harsh chemicals, which can dull the glaze.

Brass-finish hardware
Wipe the pulls with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid metal polishes, abrasive pads and harsh cleaners, which can wear the finish.

Installation
Install and connect this vanity as you would any freestanding vanity, ideally by a licensed plumber.

A Note on Natural Variation
Where natural materials such as wood are used, slight variations in grain and colour from one piece to the next are to be expected, and give each its own character.

Shipping & Returns

Most pieces are dispatched within 3 to 5 business days and arrive within 2 to 4 weeks. Pieces marked Made to Order are built after you order, and the timing shown on that piece applies instead. Larger items ship by freight, and the carrier will call to arrange a delivery time that suits you. Shipping is calculated at checkout.

A few addresses, typically islands, peninsulas and remote rural routes, carry an additional fee from the carrier. If that applies to yours, we will email you the exact amount before your order is released, and you can accept it or cancel for a full refund.

Please inspect your piece on arrival and keep the packaging until you have. If anything is damaged or incorrect, photograph the piece and the box including the label, then email support@bramleyhousehome.com within 24 hours. We will arrange a replacement or repair at no cost to you.

Because each piece ships directly from the maker, we are not able to accept returns for change of mind.
