BH | Studio Polperro Channel-Tufted Bouclé Twin Trundle Daybed

The trundle bed is an old answer to a full house: in Tudor and Elizabethan homes a low truckle bed on small wheels hid under a larger bed by day and rolled out at night for a child or a servant. Deep vertical channels, upholstery stitched into parallel ribs, recall the sleek interiors of the late 1920s and 1930s.

This is a twin daybed with three upholstered sides, a low back and two padded arms, each worked in tall channels and covered in a nubby, looped bouclé in warm cream. A second twin frame rides on casters underneath, so it slides out at bedtime and tucks away in the morning: two places to sleep in the footprint of one. Wood slats carry the mattress, so no box spring is needed, and the frame is rated to 300 lbs. Each level takes a standard twin mattress, and assembly is required.

By day it is a deep sofa for a study or a sunroom, heaped with cushions; by night it sleeps a guest, or two children at a sleepover with the trundle pulled out. It suits a child's room or a home office that hosts family over the holidays. Cream bouclé is soft and light: pair it with oatmeal linen bedding, a sheepskin underfoot, a pale oak side table and a paper lantern overhead. This listing is for the daybed and trundle frame only; mattresses and bedding are not included.
