HOUSE NOTE · ABOUT THIS PIECE

The trundle bed is an old answer to a full house: in Tudor and Elizabethan homes a low truckle bed on small wheels hid under a larger bed by day and rolled out at night for a child or a servant. Deep vertical channels, upholstery stitched into parallel ribs, recall the sleek interiors of the late 1920s and 1930s.

This twin daybed is upholstered on three sides, a low back and two padded arms, each finished in tall vertical channels, in a stain-resistant performance velvet in Fawn, Aegean, Moss or Blush, made to cope with everyday use. A second twin frame sits underneath on casters: pull it out and the room sleeps two, push it back and it vanishes from view. Wood slats mean no box spring is needed, both levels take a standard twin mattress, and the frame is rated to 300 lbs. Assembly is required.

Use it as the sofa in a den, with long bolsters for lounging, then make it up for a visiting friend or a teenager's sleepover. The velvet is warm and easy to live with: dress it in white and cream bedding with a camel wool throw, set a walnut side table and a brass reading lamp at one arm, and hang a gallery of black and white photographs above. This listing is for the daybed and trundle frame only; mattresses and bedding are not included.

Care

Velvet upholstery
The performance velvet carries cleaning code S, which means spot cleaning only with a water-free dry-cleaning solvent, and no water or steam. Vacuum regularly to lift dust before it settles in. Blot spills straight away rather than rubbing. Before using any cleaner, test it on a small, hidden area first.

Wood frame
The wood slat support sits beneath the mattress. Check and tighten the bolts now and then, as you would with any bed frame. Keep the trundle casters free of hair and dust so the lower bed rolls out smoothly.

A Note on Velvet
Velvet shows soft shading or pressure marks where the pile lies in different directions. This is a characteristic of the fabric and part of how it catches the light.

Shipping & Returns

Most pieces are dispatched within 3 to 5 business days and arrive within 2 to 4 weeks. Pieces marked Made to Order are built after you order, and the timing shown on that piece applies instead. Larger items ship by freight, and the carrier will call to arrange a delivery time that suits you. Shipping is calculated at checkout.

A few addresses, typically islands, peninsulas and remote rural routes, carry an additional fee from the carrier. If that applies to yours, we will email you the exact amount before your order is released, and you can accept it or cancel for a full refund.

Please inspect your piece on arrival and keep the packaging until you have. If anything is damaged or incorrect, photograph the piece and the box including the label, then email support@bramleyhousehome.com within 24 hours. We will arrange a replacement or repair at no cost to you.

Because each piece ships directly from the maker, we are not able to accept returns for change of mind.
