BH | Studio Stamford Slatted 36-Inch Wall-Mount Vanity

Slatted wood was one of the quiet signatures of Scandinavian modern design at mid-century, and British homes took it up with enthusiasm in the 1950s and 60s, on sideboards, room dividers and wall-hung cabinets. Brought into the bathroom of an old English stone town like Stamford, it makes a hardworking cabinet look as considered as anything else in the house.

The 36-inch width gives you a generous ceramic counter either side of the basin, room for a soap dish, a cup of brushes and a tray of everyday bottles. Two wide full-extension drawers run the length of the cabinet and slide out completely, holding towels, hair tools and spare toiletries. Horizontal slats run across the whole front in a wood grain of Hazel, Almond or Charcoal, so the drawers almost disappear into the pattern. The one-piece top and rectangular basin are ceramic, in Jet or White, with three faucet holes at 8-inch widespread spacing; faucet and fixtures sold separately. The engineered wood cabinet hangs from the wall, and assembly is required.

It suits a primary bathroom or a busy family bath. Hang a wide rectangular mirror above, or a pair of round ones, and add brass or black fittings. The ceramic top against the slatted front gives a strong, tailored look that suits terrazzo floors, white subway tile or a limewashed plaster wall in warm grey. This listing is for one vanity cabinet with its ceramic top and basin; faucet not included.
