BH | Studio Stamford Slatted 48-Inch Double-Sink Vanity

In English houses before plumbing, the washstand was true bedroom furniture, made to match the chest of drawers and the wardrobe beside it. Slatted wood, a device British makers borrowed from Scandinavian modern cabinetmakers in the mid-century decades, gives the bathroom vanity back some of that furniture character.

Forty-eight inches wide, it holds two rectangular basins in a single black ceramic countertop, so two people can brush teeth at once without elbowing. The front is all horizontal slats: a pair of soft-close doors at the ends and drawers in the centre that pull all the way out, so the back of each one is easy to reach. The faucet holes are drilled for 8-inch widespread faucets, and the two basins sit 8 inches apart. The cabinet is engineered wood under a smooth wood-grain laminate, carried on four tapered wooden legs.

Made for a shared primary bathroom or a busy kids' bath. The black top against Hazel's warm grain is striking: pair it with white tile, matte black faucets, two round mirrors hung side by side, a slim brass picture light and a tray of amber glass bottles between the basins. This listing is for one vanity cabinet with its double-basin ceramic top; faucets and drains are not included, and assembly is required.
