HOUSE NOTE · ABOUT THIS PIECE

The upholstered bed came into fashion in the 1930s, when Art Deco bedrooms swapped carved wood for padded velvet. Channel tufting, upholstery stitched into tall parallel ribs, was its signature, often on a headboard stepped in at the shoulders like the era's mirrors.

At full size the bed gives a teenager or a guest room more room to sprawl, under a tall headboard of vertical channel tufting whose top corners step inward in a soft curve. The padding is generous, so it works as a backrest for homework, laptops and late reading. Its upholstery is a performance velvet in Blush, Dove or Alabaster that resists stains. Inside the engineered wood frame, wood slats support a full mattress, whether memory foam, latex, hybrid or innerspring, and no box spring is needed. Two support legs under a strengthened centre rail add stability, the frame holds up to 800 lbs, and capped black wood legs protect the floor. Assembly is required.

It suits a teenager's room that wants something more sophisticated than a child's bed, or a guest room in a city apartment. Each shade is softer and more adult in velvet than in cotton: layer it with oatmeal linen, a charcoal throw and black-framed prints, with a brass swing-arm lamp on the wall beside it. It sits equally well against pale grey or a dusty plaster pink. This listing is for the bed frame only; mattress and bedding are not included.

Care

Velvet upholstery
The performance velvet carries cleaning code S, which means spot cleaning only with a water-free dry-cleaning solvent, and no water or steam. Vacuum regularly to lift dust before it settles in. Blot spills straight away rather than rubbing. Before using any cleaner, test it on a small, hidden area first.

Wood frame
The engineered wood frame and wood slats sit beneath the upholstery. Check and tighten the bolts now and then, as you would with any bed frame.

Wood legs
Dust with a soft, dry cloth, and wipe occasionally with a barely damp one, drying straight after. Keep out of direct sun and away from radiators and heat vents.

A Note on Velvet
Velvet shows soft shading or pressure marks where the pile lies in different directions. This is a characteristic of the fabric and part of how it catches the light.

Shipping & Returns

Most pieces are dispatched within 3 to 5 business days and arrive within 2 to 4 weeks. Pieces marked Made to Order are built after you order, and the timing shown on that piece applies instead. Larger items ship by freight, and the carrier will call to arrange a delivery time that suits you. Shipping is calculated at checkout.

A few addresses, typically islands, peninsulas and remote rural routes, carry an additional fee from the carrier. If that applies to yours, we will email you the exact amount before your order is released, and you can accept it or cancel for a full refund.

Please inspect your piece on arrival and keep the packaging until you have. If anything is damaged or incorrect, photograph the piece and the box including the label, then email support@bramleyhousehome.com within 24 hours. We will arrange a replacement or repair at no cost to you.

Because each piece ships directly from the maker, we are not able to accept returns for change of mind.
