HOUSE NOTE · ABOUT THIS PIECE

The English hall table existed for one purpose: to be the place where things were left. Cards, letters, gloves, whatever came through the door went onto it, and a house without one still ends up with all of it piled on the stairs.

Solid hardwood in a warm amber with finely turned legs and three compact drawers across the front, and no shelf below, so the floor underneath stays clear for the things a hall needs at ground level: boots, a basket, an umbrella stand.

Three drawers is the difference between a console and a useful one, and this is where keys, mail, dog leashes and the small administrative debris of a household can go to stop being visible. Hallway furniture earns its place by how much it absorbs, and this absorbs a surprising amount for something so shallow. The turned legs keep it from looking like a cabinet in a corridor, which is the usual fate of a console with this much storage in it.

Care

TimberKeep out of direct sunlight and away from radiators. An occasional pass of beeswax on the unpainted wood keeps the sheen and extends the life of the piece.

StabilityThis is a tall, shallow piece, which makes it easy to tip if it is leaned on or a drawer is left open and loaded. Secure it to the wall with an anti-tip strap, especially in a home with small children.

A note on handmade variationThis piece is made by hand from solid wood. Grain patterns, knots, and small variations in tone or dimension occur naturally and are not faults. If you are buying several pieces to sit together in one room, order them together where possible, as batches can differ slightly in colour.

Shipping & Returns

Most pieces are dispatched within 3 to 5 business days and arrive within 2 to 4 weeks. Pieces marked Made to Order are built after you order, and the timing shown on that piece applies instead. Larger items ship by freight, and the carrier will call to arrange a delivery time that suits you. Shipping is calculated at checkout.

A few addresses, typically islands, peninsulas and remote rural routes, carry an additional fee from the carrier. If that applies to yours, we will email you the exact amount before your order is released, and you can accept it or cancel for a full refund.

Please inspect your piece on arrival and keep the packaging until you have. If anything is damaged or incorrect, photograph the piece and the box including the label, then email support@bramleyhousehome.com within 24 hours. We will arrange a replacement or repair at no cost to you.

Because each piece ships directly from the maker, we are not able to accept returns for change of mind.
