HOUSE NOTE · ABOUT THIS PIECE

The potboard is one of the most useful ideas in country furniture: the low open shelf at the base of an old Welsh dresser, down near the floor, where the heavy pots and jugs lived within easy reach. This tall little side table runs with that thinking and doubles it: not one open shelf but two, stacked below a single drawer, so everything earns its keep in plain sight.

The drawer up top hides what you'd rather not see; the two shelves below hold what you don't mind showing: books, a basket, a stack of magazines. The legs are turned with a run of bead detail, just enough hand-craft to warm up a plain frame… country bones, tidied up for the town. Finished in a deep, near-black charcoal that lets the grain ghost through, it's slim enough for a hallway or the side of a bed, and hard-working enough to earn either spot.

Materials & Dimensions

Materials: 100% solid hardwood, carbon ash finish, turned legs, 1 smooth-glide drawer with brass-finished handle, 2 open shelves.

Boxed dimensions: Height 31.5 in, Width 27.56 in, Depth 17.72 in, Weight 46.3 lbs.

Care

Timber
Dust regularly and wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth, drying after. Keep out of direct sunlight and away from radiators to protect the finish. Every so often, a thin coat of natural beeswax polish, buffed by hand, will feed the wood and keep its depth.

Turned legs
Dust into the turned grooves with a soft, dry brush, where a cloth tends to skip over the beads.

Drawer
Ease the runner now and then so it pulls sweetly, and check the fixings once in a while.

Brass pull
Buff with a dry cloth to keep its shine, or leave it to soften into a lived-in patina — both are right.

A note on handmade variation
Being handmade from solid wood, small variations in grain, tone, and carving are part of the character, and no two are exactly alike.

Shipping & Returns

Most pieces are dispatched within 3 to 5 business days and arrive within 2 to 4 weeks. Pieces marked Made to Order are built after you order, and the timing shown on that piece applies instead. Larger items ship by freight, and the carrier will call to arrange a delivery time that suits you. Shipping is calculated at checkout.

A few addresses, typically islands, peninsulas and remote rural routes, carry an additional fee from the carrier. If that applies to yours, we will email you the exact amount before your order is released, and you can accept it or cancel for a full refund.

Please inspect your piece on arrival and keep the packaging until you have. If anything is damaged or incorrect, photograph the piece and the box including the label, then email support@bramleyhousehome.com within 24 hours. We will arrange a replacement or repair at no cost to you.

Because each piece ships directly from the maker, we are not able to accept returns for change of mind.
